Alex Grey and Jeans 4 Justice Event Recaps
What an eventful few days it has been. Full of friends, making new friends, art, and music. Couldn’t have asked for better way to spend a week’s end. Something about those four things combined all into one is like your favorite ice-cream on a hot summer day.
We started out at the Alex Grey event Entheon Kickstarter in L.A. For those of you that don’t know the work of Alex Grey I highly recommend checking out his work. Most likely you’ve seen something of his at some point. They put together an event to raise money to create a permanent space for his art and other extraordinary artists work. There was all sorts of amazing artists doing live paintings and of course Alex Grey and his wife Allyson doing live paintings themselves. All the while to some amazing music performers and DJ’s. We were able to purchase Alex Grey’s book “Net of Being” and have him sign it, along with some other artwork! Whoo-Hoo!
I’ve pulled together some of my favorite photos of the night to share with you…
Then on Saturday Jonathan and I went to the Jeans 4 Justice event. To explain what J4J is I copied the following from the website:
“Jeans 4 Justice believes in a community-driven model of social change that first brings awareness of an issue, educates on how to be an active bystander, and finally empowers participants as leaders in the movement to end sexual violence. We also believe in the infinite power of the individual, and that transformation and leadership happen from the inside out. When one person commits to making a shift in their own life by making powerful, compassionate and loving choices, they create a ripple around them that can cause change throughout generations.”
We each painted a pair of jeans for the event that in turn get auctioned off to raise money for the cause. This is my third time doing this for them and it is so rewarding every time. Met some AMAZING people! Here are how the jeans turned out:
You totally love them don’t you? You love them so much you want to buy them don’t you? Well guess what… you can bid for them on ebay! The money goes to J4J and a small percentage to the artists. For Jonathan’s go here and for mine go here. Share with your friends!
Well thanks for reading. I’m glad to have had a mellow Sunday and back to work for me tomorrow. Hope you all had a great weekend!
