5 Restaurants I’m Loving in San Diego

Babycakes Red Velvet Pancakes

I posted the post “My Top 6 Favorite Restaurants and What to Eat” a couple years ago and those restaurants we still frequent often but Jonathan and I have discovered some new yummy favorites. So if we are not in the mood to cook we head to one of these delicious places. We’ve been going out a lot for brunch which is why you my notice 3 out of 5 of the places offer brunch. If you live in the San Diego area or maybe you are just going to be visiting, please stop in to one (or all) of these amazing spots and fill your tummy up with fabulous food.

Punjabi Tandoor
Hands down the best Indian Food in San Diego… no joke. They also have locations in Anaheim and Corona.
What to EAT: My favorite is the mushroom curry if I’m feeling vegetarian or the chicken Makhani if I’m wanting meat. They both have so much flavor! Make sure to order a combo so that way you get rice, naan, and daal.

3 Things to do This Week

Happy Tuesday! I know I usually post these on Monday but I just didn’t get it out in time. So are you ready for 3 new things to focus on this week that are all good for your health? Good… here they are… enjoy. :)

Salad

Do This:
Eat a salad everyday for a week

This week’s “To Do” is to eat a salad everyday for a week. Either for lunch or dinner, with or without meat. Load it up with healthy, fresh, organic vegetables and use an oil and vinegar type dressing. Add some nuts or seeds and challenge yourself to make it colorful as possible.

Eating a salad will fill you up but not with a ton of calories. They are also a great way to get a big dose of fiber and a healthy serving of vegetables. They are quick and easy to make and also great for on the go. You may find yourself dropping a couple pounds by just supplementing your lunch or dinner with a salad.

Be creative. You can also try this amazing salad or maybe this one too.

3 Things to Do This Week

Page_1

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated” – Confucius

The theme this week is “simplicity”. Everything this week is simple to do… enjoy!

Do This:
Simplify

This week’s “to do” is to look at the different areas in your life (work, family, finance, fun, etc.) and find areas that you can simplify… allowing or opening up more time for other things that you enjoy doing. I often here people saying all these things that they want to do but then always saying they are “too busy” to do so… so let’s make it happen.

Where can you simplify?

Remember that saying no isn’t always a bad thing… because what you say no to means you are saying yes to something else, and sometimes that yes is time for yourself and the things you love. Doesn’t mean you can say no to your workouts… you need your health too. :)

I can’t really give you an example given that simplifying looks different for everyone, but it could be cleaning out your closet, re-arranging your schedule to allow more free time, prep a few meals in one night to make cooking easier the rest of the week. I encourage you to really take a look at what can be simplified in your life. We all have something, it can be extremely good for your health… and may even open you and your time up for even greater things.

Green Parrot Smoothie

Green Parrot Smoothie

Every morning I whip up a smoothie for Jonathan and I to enjoy. I usually drink mine for breakfast and this morning I was in the mood for something tropical. I threw in a few things, blended it up and Jonathan seems to think it’s my best smoothie yet. We named it the “Green Parrot” after the family of green parrots that live here in Ocean Beach. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

10oz coconut water
handful of spinach
2-3 stems of kale (de-stemmed)
about 1/4 cup of parsley
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 banana
heaping spoonful of plain greek yogurt (optional)
1 tablespoon coconut shreds
1-2 teaspoons flaxseeds
agave or sweetener of your choice

Blend it all up and enjoy! Continue reading
