Living in Vacation City
We all get caught up in the stresses of life. We are human, it happens. We get blinded by nonsense and stressed out for no reason (really, we make reasons but there is really no reason to be stressed). And when all this stuff adds up… we want a vacation. For me, traveling and adventures is one of my favorite things. I am always daydreaming on what to do and where to go next. But at the end of the day… I live in San Diego, and people from all over the world vacation here!
I love living in San Diego. There is always something fun going on. We have the ocean, desert, and mountains near by and Mexico! So even if I did want to “get out of the country”, I don’t have to go very far. We have great weather, delicious food and a beautiful downtown. Neighborhoods like Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Del Mar, Hillcrest and Encinitas always feel like somewhere you would check out if your were visiting. My point is… I’m grateful for where I live. I get to live where people vacation!
Some things I got to do this past week that had me feeling like I was on vacation:
Vaud and the Villains at the Belly Up in Solana Beach
The Belly Up is one of my favorite venues for live music. It has great sound, good drinks and the restaurant right next door serves darn good food! My girlfriend Kelly performs as one of the cabaret dancers and told me about their show at the Belly Up. So went to go check it out as was blown away!!! Amazing… just to give you an idea: they are a 19 piece 1930’s New Orleans orchestra and cabaret show!!! If they ever come to your town they are a must see!
A Yoga class at the Catamaran Resort in Mission Beach lead by Jonathan Old-Rowe
Jonathan taught a yoga class on the grass looking out onto the bay as the sunset. If doing yoga under the palm trees right in front of a beach at a nice resort doesn’t make you feel like you are on vacation… well… I don’t know what to say. If you don’t live in San Diego (or even if you do) look into staying at the Catamaran Resort… it’s an awesome spot. And if you want to do some yoga, come take one of Jonathan’s many fabulous classes at Indie, Sol, and/or Spirit Yoga.
Brunch at The Red Door (twice!)
Maybe you’ve read my post about 5 restaurants I’m loving in San Diego and already know about the Red Door. The food there is absolutely scrumptious. I’m addicted to their brunch. I was lucky enough to have gone twice in one week!
Just a few things I enjoyed over the past week. Which gets me thinking… what does it really take to feel like you are living like you are on vacation? Hmmm… future post maybe? I’m going to start putting that into practice and i’ll let you all know how it goes. How can you live like YOU are on vacation in your city?
Thanks for reading!
