Simple Pleasure #1: Sun on My Face
“Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.” – Albert Schweitzer
Such a instant way to feel better. The best is when you’ve been inside all day under artificial lights and being chilled to the bone by air conditioning then going out into the sun… Bam!!! Sun all over your face… warms you right up and gives you an instant boost of energy or how about when it’s been overcast and the sun starts to peak through and little rays of light shoot everywhere like laser beams.
I recently experienced the joy of having sun on my face when I was having lunch with a friend in Encinitas. It was cloudy, kinda cold and to top it off I was battling a cold. We sat at a table outside and in the midst of our conversation the sun came pouring through the clouds and splattered all over us. We both stopped and reached out to it as if we could hold the sun in our hands and take it home for later. I could feel the heat penetrate my skin and received a healthy dose of xterracyprus vitamin D. It didn’t last very long until the sun was behind the clouds again but it was enough to remind me how much of a simple pleasure it really is… So the next time the sun shines on your face, don’t squint your eyes at it – soak it up.
