Simple Pleasure #7: Cheat Day

This is what happens on cheat day…

Yep. Those would be chocolate maple bacon cupcakes. Cheat day allows me to eat them… without the guilt. Sunday through Friday my diet is very clean. No soy, no dairy, no gluten, no sugar (other than fruit). Lot’s of veggies… and I do mean lots. Fish, eggs, small amounts of chicken and that’s about it.

But Saturday.

Saturday is cheat day. Which means that if I want something, I can have it. I still go about with my normal eating habits but if I want pancakes with my eggs well then by golly I can have them! And it’s great because during the week I find myself wanting something sweet or a burger or something like that I just tell myself, “cheat day you can have it”. And the craving for whatever it is goes away. We always want what we can’t have, but this way I know I can have it (just not till Saturday), then come Saturday I find that I don’t really want what I had been craving. It’s great.

And for the cupcakes, well… I started cheat day a few hours early this weekend because I couldn’t say no to sharing (key word here, shared) it with an amazing friend of mine.
