Go on, hug one. It feels good.
Do you know what trees do for us. I’m sure you do if you really think about it… they supply us with tasty, yummy oxygen. Yes, but do you know what else? They make life more pleasant. Most of us respond to trees beyond just observing their beauty. We may tend to feel serene, peaceful, restful, and/or tranquil when we are around trees. Trees alter the environment in which we live. They moderate the climate, improve air quality, conserve water, and harbor wildlife. Also they provide us a great way to get a workout… climbing them!!!
And how often do you really think about what trees do? Would you say we take them for granted? We sure do. Be grateful for the trees. Be grateful for what they provide for us. I have no problem hugging trees in public, but if that scares you a little you can start by just saying out loud that you are grateful for the trees. Then maybe touch a tree… then maybe you’ll find you’ll just want to hug it… xo
