Who is it Really About?

Last weekend I attended the Perform Better Fitness Conference in Long Beach California. It’s a 3-day event featuring awesome speakers well known in the sports & fitness industries. Half the day is lecture the other half is hands on. There are four classes to choose from every hour… it’s like Disneyland for personal trainers. So you can imagine 800-900 fitness “professionals” scattered about in a convention hall. Talk about fit bodies every where, all wearing the top of the line fitness apparel, carrying around water bottles and their protein bars… you know… for that “just in case” snack. Every single…

Workout Corner: 2 Great Exercises for Your Backside

Highlighted Muscle: Hamstrings Exercise 1: Hamstring Curl w/ Stability Ball Benefits: It’s a good exercise to work the hamstrings while controlling the lumbo pelvic hip complex and a great movement to ‘teach’ the core / hips / thigh to stabilize while hamstrings are working concentrically/eccentrically. 6 Reasons Why Strength Training is Important

It’s that picture just the funniest!!!??? It’s funny to me that my job of choice is a personal trainer yet I rarely ever write about fitness. Maybe it’s because I teach/live it all day (maybe except for weekends) that my attention goes else where when I sit down in front of the keyboard. But not today, today I write about the importance of strength training. Why? Well… because it’s important. I’m aware that not everybody likes the gym and some people would rather stab their foot with a nail before they would pick-up a dumbbell but who knows, maybe I…

What I Love About Exercise

A client recently asked me what I love about exercises. Thought I’d share my answer with all of you. Q: What part of your workout do you enjoy the most? The anticipation leading up to your workout, the sweat and burning sensation of your muscles while working out, or the gratification of the post workout? Or is there something entirely different that makes you enjoy working out so much, that you go back the next day? A: OK… so when I read this question my very first though that came to mind on what part of my workouts do I enjoy most…
