California Adventures: Visiting Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks

Nature can have a powerful impact on you, just as it did in my recent trip to some of California’s most beautiful National Parks. My manfriend and I took a trip to Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks for New Years, and where there are hundreds of things to do, the following are a few of the things we did, but worth a mention. So if you are thinking or ever wanted to visit these pristine national parks, add the following to your list. Yosemite National Park is well known, not everyone has visited it but most have heard about this…

How Being in Nature Reminds Us of Our True Nature

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” ~ John Muir During the time between Christmas and New Years, my manfriend and I headed to the mountains. I had been craving the forest. I was lusting for the feel of the crisp air on my face and the smell of the snow drenched soil. I needed to hug a tree, knowing my medicine lies within those trees and beneath the starry sky. A break was in order for us both from the high speed craziness of the city. We sat in the pizza hall at Curry Village…

California Adventures: Camping at Lopez Lake

After spending a week in the desert for Burning Man I was in need of a much needed trip to a place that housed trees. One of my favorite places to camp in California is at Lopez Lake, which is nestled in the hills and mountains about 10 miles south of San Luis Obispo. I’ve camped there twice before, first time was on my solo road trip and the second was on my way to Lightning in a Bottle. It’s a great place to visit if you have dogs and/or kids, or just if you are just wanting some time in nature….

How to Road Trip with Your Dog

I love my dogs. I love road trips. My dogs + road trips = happiest girl in the world. But it’s not like I can throw my dogs into an over the shoulder bag and roam the countryside. I’ve got two 70 pound balls of pure fluff. Some would think it’s not the easiest to road trip with my crazy mutts but with a little preparation, road tripping with my (your) dog/s (of any size) is a breeze. I’ve had my dogs sense they were teeny tiny pups and they have been driving around in my car for about the length of…

Bali Coast to California Coast

Home Sweet Home. I came from Bali and went right into a road trip up the coast of California (again). This time I was able to drive through Big Sur and camp. It was great to see my home coast only 30 hours after seeing Bali’s. You’ve seen the Bali beach pictures so you know how beautiful it is… but there is something very comforting about being on homeland and seeing what I would consider my backyard. My friend Jonathan and I took our sweet ass beautiful time as we headed to San Francisco. We stopped to snap shots of…

Road Trip in the South of France

If ever traveling the South of France or are planning a trip consider doing a road trip from Castellane to Moustiers Sainte-Marie. We did it in two (long) days but you could easily add some extra time. We were staying in Mougins and started there. Renting a car with a GPS is key, given that trying to follow a map anywhere in France is practically impossible. The road is a windy one so choose a car that hugs curves well and has great gas millage. Map the route on Google maps first so you at least have a visual idea…
