Valentine’s Day Part 1

I love love love each and every one of you!!! Thank you so much much for supporting my blog. It’s truly awesome knowing that I reach so many people. If you celebrate Valentines Day I hope you had a wonderful day, if not well then… I hope you had a wonderful day. My Valentine’s Day was pretty mellow. Jonathan and I aren’t the biggest fans of V-Day but decided it would be nice if I took the night off and hung out with him and the dogs… so I did.

Since I had the day open after 12:00 I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to bake something yummy. I haven’t baked in forever and have been wanting to. I found a recipe via Pinterest via Babble for red velvet whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting. Get the recipe here. I figured red velvet would be appropriate for V-Day. There is two different recipes for the whoopie pies – from scratch or from a cake mix. I chose to use a cake mix because I didn’t want to buy all the ingredients. I ended up with a Chocolate Cake mix from Whole Foods because whole foods doesn’t carry red velvet mix. It didn’t matter though because they turned out amazing!!!!!

Before I made the pies Jonathan and I took the dogs to a dog park on Fiesta Island (in San Diego) which we have never visited before… can I say… OH MY GOSH… it was huge and beautiful. We spent a good two hours roaming around enjoying the views. Sadie ended up catching a little mole… poor dude, bless his little mole heart. But all-in-all the dogs were very very very happy as you can imagine.

Beautiful views, and tons of running space. Below photo: Wild flowers in bloom at the dog park, sunset, a very happy Griffin and my favorite t-shirt – which says “I love you like a zombie loves brains” – very appropriate for V-Day I thought.

So the day was a success. A little bit of work, a trip to the dog park, whoopie pies, healthy dinner and a movie at home with my man, I wore my favorite t-shirt and made a nice little loving breakfast this morning. Couldn’t have asked for a better Valentine’s Day. I’ll share more of my thoughts on V-Day in Part 2. Much Love!!!!

Breakfast this morning. Gluten free pancakes with strawberries.
